Sustainable Forestry
We take responsibility
As a company specialized in purchasing wood and the sell of the by-products, we assume a special responsibility towards the forest and the environment.
In principle, we only buy wood from sustainably, based on the national forest laws of the forests managed. We prefer suppliers who have a forest or product chain certification according to PEFC or FSCĀ®. As a company certified in both systems and ISO 38200:2018 Chain of Custody (CoC), we are closing the chain from the forest to the end product. In addition, we procure sustainable biomass for thermal utilisation. RED II/III compliance is ensured by our SURE-EU certification. Both the certification of our suppliers and their own certifications are audited annually by independent, qualified and accredited certification experts.
For non-certified wooden origins we exclude the following sources:
- Illegally harvested wood
- Wood from areas violating traditional or civil rights in forestry
- Wood from forests whose special protection value is endangered by forest management
- Wood from the transformation of natural forests into plantations or non-for-forestry uses
- Wood from forests planted with genetically modified tree species
- Wood, which violates international labour and social standards (ILO) during harvesting, trade and processing
We make an active contribution
… for the development of stable, high-performance forests.
We receive wood from our suppliers according to defined quality requirements, such as thinning, low- and crown wood.
Most of the wood we bought comes from the regional forest areas around the pulp factories.
For professional timber transport, we serve experienced local logistics partners who guarantee efficient transport from the forest to the plants to be supplied. In this way, we contribute to the protection of the climate and promote regional economic cycles.
For further distances, we use the environmentally friendly means of transport by train and ship if possible.
